Grear Street Transitional Housing

Through the various UGM recovery programs, men have readied themselves to rejoin the community. They have improved their academic skills, learned to depend on the Lord’s guidance, direction and support as they developed healthy relationships and joined in fellowship with local congregations. As they finish their programs and obtain employment, they begin one of the most difficult tasks on the journey back to “normalcy” – the task of finding appropriate, affordable, safe housing.

Our transitional housing facility provides safe and affordable housing in a Christian environment for up to 24 months for men who have graduated the New Life Fellowship program with available after-care services, such as:

  • Continued spiritual growth
  • Life-skills classes
  • Relapse prevention
  • Informal counseling
  • Emotional and mental health support

For many emerging from long-term homelessness, dysfunctional lifestyles and drug abuse, starting over in a job at the lower end of the pay scale is not unusual. It is extremely important that they not only find affordable housing, but safe housing – a place in which they can remain free from the harmful influences of others who may be using drugs and alcohol.
